A general arrangement (GA) drawing shows the overall geometry, dimensions, and connection points of a piece of equipment.

The bill of material (BOM) lists every part on that drawing: part number, material, quantity. The two have to match exactly, every time, including after a revision. When they do not, procurement orders the wrong thing, or the shop builds something that does not match what was ordered. For simpler items without a model, the GA is built directly, with the same discipline around keeping drawing and BOM as a single linked deliverable rather than two documents maintained separately.
